Overview
The Brooodmaker™ utilizes site power and water to operate. Broodstock are the value-generating element within aquaculture and hatchery enterprises. Safe, gentle care and fish welfare, minimizing stress and injury potential is desired; however, management of growing and ripening fish often requires fish transfer between holding tanks. Fish handling is a known fish stressor, resulting in elevated cortisol levels and the potential for premature egg release and/or fish injury. The Broodmaker™ minimizes these risks, requiring only a simple hand-load into the SalmonCannon™, followed by a MigratorTube™-protected glide through the tube to the receiving tank or raceway. Multiple studies have been conducted to investigate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of Broodmaker™ fish transfer. These have shown that Broodmaker™ transfer stress-indicator levels are low: there is no evidence of premature egg release or injury; and upon harvest and fertilization, high levels of fecundity are achieved.

How It Works
The Broodmaker consists of two main components: the SalmonCannon™ and the MigratorTube™. The Salmon Cannon™ is a pneumatic system that gently and quickly transports the fish from the source tank and propels them into the MigratorTube™. The MigratorTube™ is a flexible and smooth tube that cradles the fish during the transport to the destination tank or raceway.
